Exterior Painting Perth

Perth's intense UV exposure and, for coastal suburbs, salty sea air are hard on exterior paintwork. A coat that would last a decade inland in a milder climate can chalk, fade or peel within a few summers here if the wrong system is used — or if the surface wasn't prepared properly before painting.

Before we paint we pressure-wash, scrape back flaking or chalky paint, treat mould and efflorescence, and prime bare timber, metal or render so the new coat actually bonds. Skipping that step is the most common reason exterior jobs fail early. We work on weatherboard, render, brick, Colorbond fascia and timber trim, and can match or refresh your existing colour scheme.

Coastal properties from Scarborough and Fremantle down through Rockingham and Mandurah get marine-grade, salt- and UV-resistant systems. Inland and hills homes get UV-stable weatherproof coatings suited to their exposure. We also check metal fixtures, gutters and railings for early corrosion before painting over them — salt-affected hardware will push through a new coat if it isn't treated first.

A typical full exterior on a standard three-bedroom house takes one to two weeks depending on weather, size and how much prep is needed. We schedule around forecast rain and extreme heat so coats cure properly, and every exterior job is backed by our 5-year workmanship guarantee and $80M public liability insurance.

Our Process

  1. 1Site assessment and quote — we inspect cladding type, existing coating condition, exposure (coastal vs inland) and access (heights, scaffolding needs).
  2. 2Wash and prep — pressure washing, scraping, sanding, mould treatment, and priming of bare or problem areas. Metal fixtures get corrosion treatment where needed.
  3. 3Protect and paint — gardens, windows and paved areas are masked; we apply the specified exterior system, usually two coats, with careful cutting-in at junctions.
  4. 4Inspect and hand over — a final walkaround checks coverage, edges and any missed spots before we pack up and leave the site tidy.

Materials & Paint Systems

We specify exterior acrylics and elastomeric coatings rated for high UV. Coastal jobs use marine-grade or coastal-rated systems designed to resist salt bloom and early chalking. Rendered facades often get a flexible, crack-bridging finish so minor substrate movement doesn't telegraph through as hairline cracks in the paint film.

Timber weatherboards and fascias need the right primer for bare or previously stained timber; Colorbond and metal trim get etch primers or dedicated metal primers before topcoat. We don't mix incompatible systems — if the existing coating type is unknown, we test adhesion before committing to a full repaint.
